The goal of the LASPD to “address the quality of life issues that impact student safety and the ability of the students and staff to enjoy a safe learning environment free from the fear of crime” aligns with BTSLA’s mission to cultivate youth development in underserved communities. Neysa Alvarado is an 8th grader at Sal Castro Middle School and has been attending the DTLA Wrestling Academy since it's inception August 2016. After a successful first season under her belt, she is eager to make wrestling part of her future as she continues on to high school. Damian Cosio is a first grader at 66th Elementary school in BTSLA's Bell Community Program. He has been wrestling for two years with Coach Josue Pivaral, and continues to enjoy learning new things. May 3, 2017 | On April 22nd, over 150 athletes from across Southern California participated in the 4th annual Angel City Grand Prix held at Mountain View High School in El Monte. Wrestlers from seven California counties converged to compete in the all-girls freestyle tournament. Contestants competed in Junior, Cadet, Schoolgirl, Novice, and Intermediate age divisions. On February 23rd, 2017, Laura Stein & Sam Goldfeder welcomed friends and supporters of BTSLA into their home for the 3rd consecutive year to raise funds for the BTSLA Futures Camp Scholarship Program.
