This past Sunday, May 4, marked the final Tomorrow’s Leaders workshop of the spring season! 73 student-athletes participated in this workshop focused on improving both their public speaking and wrestling skills.

The day kicked off with Elite Speech Coaching led by Jonathan Bias, an internationally acclaimed, award-winning speaker and communication expert featured in Forbes. Jonathan broke down the art of storytelling and persuasive speaking, giving students tools to communicate with confidence, clarity, and authenticity. He reminded them that their voice is one of their strongest tools, not just in public speaking, but in leadership and life.

In the second half of the day, students stepped onto the mat with Coach Kevin Jackson, coach at the University of Michigan and a decorated Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion. Drawing from decades of experience as both a competitor and a coach, Coach Jackson challenged students to train intentionally, to be focused and harness the energy they bring to the mat. He emphasized the technical aspects of leg defense and counter offense with a focus on doing moves correctly before moving on to the next technical area.

This final workshop brought two different worlds—speech and sport—together with one message: confidence, commitment, and community are key to growth.

The day was a reflection of how far our students have come. They’ve developed strong voices, stronger character, and a deeper belief in themselves. We’re proud of every student who showed up, put in the work, and continued to grow throughout this season.
